The Duarte Historical Society

  • maintains the Duarte Historical Museum, with displays of artifacts, documents, photographs and other materials illustrating the history of the Rancho Azusa de Duarte and of the cities of Duarte and Bradbury, California
  • presents bimonthly public meetings at the Museum
  • contributes to the discussion of public issues relating to history and historic preservation
  • conducts Spring and Fall bird walks in the San Gabriel River adjacent to the Museum
  • sponsors historical markers at important locations
  • has special temporary exhibitions from time to time illustrating local history and local activities
  • sponsors crafts and arts fairs
  • provides a local history resource for the Duarte Unified School District
  • participates in the activities of the Foothill Curators, a group of museum personnel who staff the historical museums of the San Gabriel Valley.  The Duarte Historical Society originated and maintains their brochure A Guide to the Locations and Operating Hours of the Historical Museums of the San Gabriel Valley
  • is a member of the LA as Subject Database, a collection of lesser-known historical resources in the Los Angeles area.
  • publishes a newsletter, the Branding Iron
